Verslag Triptique Ardennais

Van 19 tot 22mei heb ik deelgenomen aan de Triptique Ardennais ! een heel zware maar leerrijke ronde ! Het was immers een boeiend deelnemersveld met onder meer veel profrenners die aan de start kwamen ! met maar liefst 189 renners aan de start !

RIT 1 vond de proloog plaats op een militaire kazerne , het was een heel gevaarlijk parcours .. 5km met in totaal 31 bochten voor de boeg ! ik kon héél goed de bochten inschatten en perfect de tijdrit verdelen en werd mooi 26e in de proloog !

RIT2  stond de 2e rit op het programma ! 147km in de ardense streek ! Al van in de start was het de kraan open met een snel gemiddelde het eerste uur . Ik kon mij goed voorin houden in het peleton en dat deed ik ook heel de wedstrijd zo ! ongeveer halfweg reden wij met het EFC-ETIXX blok samen met Lotto-Soudal een stevig tempo om de kopgroep niet te ver te laten rijden , maar jammer genoeg waren de vogels gaan vliegen . op de laatste helling ongeveer  viel ik aan met Kevin Pauwels en reden we naar een klein groepje die eerder wegreed en we bleven nog net voor het peleton aan de finish ik werd nog mooi 31e

 

RIT 3a – en 3b was , en ging een zware dag worden . Eerst 74km in het Duitse front afleggen , en in de namiddag 97km rijden in de heuvelachtige streek rond Eupen .

Rit 3a = Een snelle wedstrijd met veel aanvallen en snelheid in het eerste uur , na 50km was het gevoel veel beter en kon zelf nog veel aanvallen op het laatste klimmetje maar er was niets aan te doen door de controle van Veranda’s Willems, in de massasprint heb ik mij heel goed kunne  plaatsen en mooi 21e kunnen worden

Rit 3b = Was een beetje minder in het begin door de zware benen , maar al later bleek dat het gevoel weer beterde op de beklimming van de 10km lange Signal de Botrange , in de afdaling naar Eupen hield ik mij heel goed vooraan om de nodige valpartijen te vermijden , op de beklimming van de kathelerberg( een stuk van 400m aan +/- 20% Kwam ik heel vooraan boven en wist ik dat het gevoel goed zat . De 1e keer de beklimming van de Edelstrasse naar het voetbalveld van Eupen toe was het iets zwaarder dan ik dacht maar het voelde goed en ik kon nog goed doorrijden , de laatste km op de edelstrasse kon ik goed postvatten en reed nog alles uit mijn lijf om nog de top 30 te kunnen halen en werd héél schoon 23e nog !

Rit 4 = Dit was de koninginnenrit van de Triptique , Op de Vequee was het tempo stevig maar goed en kon eigenlijk heel de wedstrijd goed vooraan post vatten op de klim buiten categorie was het eventjes moeilijk doordat er renners voor mij stil vielen en ik moest omrijden en zo plaatsen verloor .. maar ik keerde rap terug naar de voorpost en kon nog met een man of 60 de laatste 4 plaatselijke ronden aanvangen . Deze waren ook niet van de makkelijkste .. 2x een beklimming van 1e en 2e categorie , met daarbij een hondenweer en gevaarlijke afdalingen was het niet zonder gevaar .. De voorlaatste ronde gingen we de afdaling in en net voor de bocht ging mijn ploegmaat ( ook jammer genoeg Piet Allegaert en Jorden De Haes ten val gekomen ) aan het slippen en viel 20meter voor mij , waardoor een paar renners voor mij ook uitgleden kon ik niet meer ontwijken en viel ook tegen het asfalt .. Ik stond direct op en probeerde alles eraan te doen om het peleton in het zog te krijgen maar tevergeefs strandde ik op een klein minuutje van de groep .. Ik werd wel nog heel mooi 40e op 170 renners

Ik kan enorm tevreden terugblikken op deze ronde . Ook werd ik mooi 36e in het algemene klassement ! en 18e belofte ! het was een enorme ervaring en voor herhaling vatbaar !

Maxime de poorter moest jammerlijk genoeg opgeven door pijn in de rug maar reed sterk !

Jorden de haes werdt mooi 35e in het AK !

Piet Allegaert strandde mooi 2e in rit 3a na laurens sweeck ! proficiat !

Herman Vanhoucke kamergenoot had goede moraal voor de start en kon nog tot de laatste dag doorzetten maar moest jammerlijk genoeg opgeven door zadelpijn
